Update: I have gotten back into a daily running routine and would love dogs that need extra exercise to join me! Hi all, I have been pet sitting for 3 years for a range of dogs from 7 pounds to as much as 120 pounds. I do not personally have a pet, but love every experience I get with them. I am a young, passionate caretaker for dogs and the occasional cat. I am trying to start a business to help support my other passion of humanitarian work. Besides animals, I love playing tennis, going on walks, and taking long bike rides. I am currently offering in home visits and dog walking services to any other fellow pet lovers in my area. See the information below on my services and some simple guidelines I follow to ensure my safety and most importantly, the safety of your beloved animals. In-home visits: I am now offering in-home visits for all customers within a 15 mile radius of my location. I would love to set up a meeting in public with you and your dog to get to know them before having a more formal get to know you at your home. I ask that all customers allow me access to a leash and/or harness if necessary, a dog bowl, and sufficient food and toys to satisfy your dogs. In-home visits will include an activity log, food log, and a diary of all things that happen while I am at your home, including: arrival time, animal behavior, any time I leave with your animal for walks, any abnormalities in your dogs bathroom habits, when I leave, and of course how the day went overall. Dog walking: As you may have read above, I love to go on walks. What better way to do it than with a furry companion at my side. I have been walking friends’ dogs for 2+ years and have loved every moment of it. I require a get to know you with you and your dog at a park or other outdoor space before walking for the first time. Leash and harness should be provided by you, but I may be able to bring my own leash with when I come. I can do walks more than once a day as needed and I love when people come back to me as a walker. I try to walk dogs away from other animals to prevent any outburst or injuries, unless you tell me otherwise. I will always leave a message about how the walk went and if or what I would ask to be done differently next time. I look forward to hearing from you and being able to help with your dog care needs. I love to give affection and play with animals so they will always be distracted and well exercised. I do enjoy obedience training and will gladly work on skills if needed. Unless explicitly noted, I will do my best to stay away from other animals when walking your dogs and will stick to routines to the best of my ability.

A few things I always ask for from owners include the dogs eating habits and any special dietary restrictions or needs, their activity level and exercise requirements, how they respond to other dogs or people, and if they have any quirks or behaviors that trigger them or cause aggressive behavior. I also need to know if they have routines that need to be followed, any medications that need to be administered, or any worries or concerns you have that I may need to pay attention to such as changed eating habits or unusual activity levels like sleeping more than usual or being overly aggressive.
A typical day
I like to start off a drop in visit or dog walking appointment with a few minutes of greeting with the animals to ensure they are ready for my attention. I have found this also helps them to be relaxed and more well behaved throughout my time interacting with them. I love going for walks or being outside so I do like to bring the dogs out with me and go for walks or runs, or even just sitting on the patio with them. My favorite place to walk animals is usually around Lake Como, or any walk that is preferred by the dogs or their owners. On hot, sunny days I always like to sit in the sun, but know the dogs often need some shade or time to cool off so kiddie pools or hoses are great. After a long walk, I like to give lots of water and treats and relax inside with the dogs or bring them home to their owners to get more love and attention.

Availability
I currently work half days 3-4 days per week in the evening. Mornings and early afternoons work best on these days for drop ins or walks but I can always check in afterwards. Sometimes I can stop by during break times. I do have a morning running routine and would love to find a recurring customer or many to run with. Otherwise my schedule is rather fluid and can be molded to maximize time and attention for your animals.
