Adam and Janice are a pair of dog-loving best friends working in the international development space. DC natives and friends since high school, they each grew up in dog-filled homes and learned to care for their furry siblings at an early age. Though their careers won't yet allow them to be full-time dog parents, they greatly look forward to spoiling your doggos or kitties while you're out! Janice grew up taking care of three rescue dogs -- a Golden Retriever, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and a scrappy little mutt. Each lovable doggo had a special need of some sort, including behavioral challenges and orthopedic issues, and so Janice learned to administer oral medications and use an assistive sling to support mobility. From ages 16 to 18, she volunteered at the Calvert County Humane Society, where she walked, fed, and cleaned up after a host of wonderful dogs. Adam grew up with six rescue cats and three rescue dogs -- a Yorkie, a Greyhound, and a Yellow Lab. Beginning in middle school, he regularly volunteered under an ASPCA vet and quickly learned to calm anxious cats and dogs and administer medications orally, rectally, subcutaneously, and intramuscularly -- skills he readily applied to care for his then-geriatric animals. Most recently, while working in rural Bolivia, he adopted and spent one year caring for two homeless dogs: a two-year-old German Shepherd and two-month-old mutt. In addition to training both dogs in basic obedience, he prepared home-cooked food for them twice daily. They currently live in Logan Circle and work in Dupont Circle. Though their apartment is unfortunately not animal friendly, their jobs allow them to regularly telework or work flexible hours. As such, they're easily able to leave the office during the day to take your dog for a walk or, if needed, telework to care for your furry pals all day.
