Hi! My name is Abigail and I am a long-time pet owner and new Chicago resident. I moved to Chicago last year and left my parents' dogs behind, and miss them so much! My boyfriend and I have two kitties, Lola and Lawrence, but our apartment is not dog-friendly, so I would love to take your pup on a walk or drop in to care for your dog(s) or cat(s) in your home. In terms of COVID stuff, I am fully vaccinated. Here's a little bit about me and my history with pets: I have extensive experience taking care of animals. I have lived in a house with pets my entire life. When I was younger, my family had both a chocolate lab and a husky. When they passed on, we adopted two cats that I was responsible for feeding and caring for. When I was in high school, my family adopted Jagger, a Yorkie mix, and a couple years later, Sawyer, another Yorkie mix, who we called our "foster failure" because we started fostering him and then couldn't give him up! My family is also part of the "Save a Yorkie" rescue organization, and we occasionally fostered small dogs who came to us from them. I played an active role in taking care of all of these dogs, walking them twice a day and making sure they were fed and watered (and giving treats!). Because of my family's time fostering dogs, I have had experience taking care of a special needs dog, Buddy. Part of Buddy's jaw was missing, and he had arthritis and could not move around easily by himself. I helped to feed him, which meant mixing up baby food and spooning it or fingering it into his mouth, and also gave him lots of cuddles/carried him around when he looked like he was having trouble moving or getting up stairs on his own. A family friend adopted Buddy, so I still pet sit for him when they go on vacation. I have also dog-sat for multiple senior pups, one of whom needed insulin shots twice a day. All this to say, I am very comfortable around all dogs and cats. I would love to meet and care for your pet. Thanks for reading :)
