Pet care experience
Hi there! I'm Abbie, and I'm a former middle school English teacher. I currently live in a house in Tempe with my cat Simon and with my roommate who has a yellow lab mix named Nala. I've loved animals, especially cats and dogs, since I was young, and I've taken care of my friends' dogs and cats for years before beginning on Rover in May of 2022. Last year alone, I trained and pet sat four puppies, several young bully breed dogs, and even two senior dogs and cats! I have experience delivering oral medication to both cats and dogs as well. I love getting to know and bond with new doggos and cats, and I can't wait to meet yours!
Reviews
I really trust Abbie with my two babies and she was able to accommodate me on short notice when I was admitted to the hospital. She is very communicative when she is there, it puts my mind at ease when I have to leave my home.
Abbie took great care of our furry children! She was attentive, caring, and friendly; and provided photo and video updates multiple times a day. We felt so at-ease knowing she was staying at our house with our pets that we could enjoy our vacation even more! Abbie is awesome!
I booked Abbie to stay in my home overnight with my dogs. I was a little worried because one of my dogs is a little afraid of new people. Abbie came over for the initial visit and my dog immediately loved her. She checked in with me every morning and night with updates and I really appreciated that. It was a relief to know that my dogs were well taken care of.
Amazing, caring and excellent communication! A real animal lover! Thank you!

Currently, I do not offer doggy day care or boarding in my home. In your home, I will respect your daily feeding and potty schedule that your pet needs. For dog drop-ins, I will typically take the dogs into your backyard for potty and play time unless a short walk is needed. Drop-in visits and walks are the same price, so either way. I will also feed your pet and give them medicine if necessary. For cats, I typically will clean the litter box during this time too. During visits, I also like to clean out the pets' water bowl and give them fresh clean water.
Information Abigail G. would like to know about your pet
I would like to know how often and how much your dog is fed, what times they usually go potty, when and how much treats they get in the middle of the day, and how much exercise they require. Please provide necessary food items and booties if I need to take the dog out for a walk during a hot day! Otherwise, I will be sure to walk the dog when the sidewalks aren't hot--morning and night. Please provide me with at least one of your dog’s toys and some treats. If your pets have a blanket, that would be best to leave out for your dog to feel comfortable because it will have your scent--this helps especially with dogs who tend to have separation anxiety. I am trained to help with crate training if necessary, or I will follow your crating routine if that is what you do while at home. The more details about your pet, the better! That way, we can have a clean transition from owner to pet sitter and back and this will alleviate the stress your pet feels while you are away.
A typical day
Regardless of what you book with me (drop-in visits, house sitting, or walking) I love playing with dogs and cats, and I am especially experienced in command training and/or command games such as discrimination or shaping to give them mental stimulation. We will typically play some fun games and some stimulating games to make sure that they are using their energy in a positive way and can be rewarded! I also love taking dogs on long walks in different places each time, especially during extended stays, so that they don't become bored with the same mundane path.

Availability
I am currently a baker working during the days for a 6-8 hour shift. I work on Rover to do drop-in visits for cats and dogs across the Valley, walk dogs, and house sit. I am accepting new clients and looking for more opportunities to pet sit if it fits into our schedules. I am currently not able to provide day care unless I am off of work but I am able to help dogs and cats that can be left alone for 6-8 hours while at my other job.
