Abbot4Critters Pawsitive Pet Care

Pet care experience

Teacher hours, tons of experience-love your pets like mine! My in-home boarding home has a smaller back yard than before- great for small, senior, and giant breeds, but large to medium high-energy dogs (who don't do well on leashes) will have less outdoor freedom than before. Usually I keep furry friends who prefer indoor life, with a few breaks outside, so they should be as happy and comfortable as always! Your loved one(s) will be cared for by an adult with extensive practical and veterinary experience- one who stays home during the summer enjoyed by a family with children. I started fostering sick, elderly, injured, and just overcrowded dogs and cats from Nashville's Humane Shelter in high school. I worked through college at local vets and at the Auburn University vet school. After earning my Bachelor's in Zoology, I then earned a Masters in Science Education. I am back to teaching, but not through the summer! I now enjoy working and being at home while I love my pets and yours : ). A natural teacher with extensive animal experience, I have attended various pet health and training classes. Beyond the academic experience with most types of animals, I have years of practical, hands-on experience. This is a great opportunity for puppies or young dogs to get used to dog-wise children- so that you will be assured their first experience with kids is POSITIVE. This can benefit you and your pet for the rest of his/her life! I prefer animals who are already adapted to families to be inside my home, but we often experience shy dogs come out of their shells and adapt to family and pet pals quicker here than parents thought possible! I am experienced with keeping careful records, administering medicine, injections, and following particular specific diets. You will KNOW your dog is having a great time! I love photography and I will be aiming to take a special shot of your beloved family member while under my care. There are four people beds available to share, and plenty of dog beds around too. *if you believe your family member would be most comfortable in a crate at certain times and you don't want to haul one, there is a good chance we have one we can set up for your fur-baby. *Occasionally, rates may be adjusted for 1) treasured seniors 2) young puppies/dogs ( large breeds are juvenile up to 2.5 years) 3) administering medication 4) very early or late and/or extensive lag between time of pick-up and drop-off and additional charges may apply. * * Holiday periods are charged by the day not be the night--there will have a surcharge and the discounts are not applicable because unfortunately, I have to turn away other clients during this time. If travel plans change last minute, I can't refund even if it's beyond your control (for example, weather related). I'll work with you as much I can tough. My travel plans away to see family are often sacrificed to spend time here hosting, and I always turn away clients during the Cobb County holidays. Please understand we love being here for your furbabies, and my little family loves planning our time hosting your loved ones when we have committed to do so!! ***Former clients should always send me a message if their dog(s) need a Vacay and my calendar reads unavailable or if you have special financial needs or requests, please just contact me and let me know. Your babies are part of our extended families once we have enjoyed them here! DogVacay has added a referral system that may replace that. Until that is established, if you have referrals, send me a message, text or email so I can send the NEW client discount code to them before they sign up, granting them $ off their first stay. Potential or new clients need to use the link provided BEFORE they sign up so they may the discount is applied. :) And thank you! I have the BEST clients and Dog Vacay dogs ! ! !

I have to say that my Weimie 'MistyBear' suffers from separation anxiety...however when I came back into town and collected her...she didn't want to come home with me! I'm sorry I didn't see this request for review just after Misty's stay with Abbye...I came home with a really bad cold and stayed in bed for days. I felt so comfortable knowing that Misty was in good hands ;-)

Information Abbye S. would like to know about your pet

I don't have preferences with breeds- but because my yard space is smaller than my giant fenced in yard before, I believe medium to large, super energetic dogs, may not be as comfortable as they were at my old house. Indoor dogs who want a few breaks or do well on leashed walks will do great. Giant Breeds like Great Danes will do great with us. If your dog has strong prey drive, we need to know ahead of time, to put small pets away and dog-smart cat to a safe part of the home.

A typical day

Walks will be done during the coolest /warmest parts of the day. Training is an optional service. I don't mind making a little drive to local parks or trails for a rich experience!
