Reliable, responsible, and friendly

Pet care experience

I didn't have dogs growing up but I always pet-sat for friends and family. I have dog-sat, walked, and groomed dogs of all sizes. I also grew up riding horses so I have a ton of experience handling dogs and other animals together. My first dog was a 100 pound German shepherd/ Rottweiler mix who was my heart and soul. We lived with a big Rottweiler for a few years so I got very comfortable handling multiple large dogs on my own. Then when I got married my ex husband and I had my old dog, two pit bulls, and a cattle dog/ jack russel mix. I was there sole care taker and they taught me so much. I got divorced and it was just me and my shepherd, who sadly passed away in 2022. Fast forward to now and I have a 5 year old son and a Dalmatian/ terrier mix. We treat her as well as we treat my little boy. The past ten or so years have given me so much experience caring for multiple dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperments. I’m just super passionate about giving my animals and those I care for the absolute best care I can. It’s also given me experience administering medication, giving shots, walking multiple dogs at a time, feeding special individualized diets, taking care of a special needs dog, etc. I’m just a true animal lover :)

Abby was very friendly and sent me updates on how Bailey was doing. She had a great fenced yard which was great to have for Bailey to run around in. I would definitely recommend Abby and rebook her for another stay.

I never got to meet Abby because my parents brought my puppy to play with Abby and her dogs while I was out of town. However, Abby sent me lots of pictures of my puppy throughout the day and kept me updated. My dad also said she handled him very well when he seemed scared to enter the new environment. I returned to a happy puppy and am glad that I chose to book Abby to play with him while I was gone!

At home my dog is walked Atleast three times a day, and one of those walks is always somewhere different- the beach, the park, the cross city trails, etc. When we’re hanging at home we provide lots of enrichment activities, playtime with toys, and also enjoy just snuggling on the couch. While your dog is in my care they will receive the same. We feed our dog a special diet and she requires daily allergy medication so meeting your dogs dietary and medication needs is no issue. Our dog is allowed on furniture, so as long as it is okay with you we have no problem with your pup joining us on the couch or in our bed. However if they aren’t allowed, we have multiple dog beds in each room so they can still be comfortable while we’re being lazy. Although we no longer have a fenced yard, our yard is pretty big and we take our dog out on the long lead often to sniff and play so your dog will receive lots of outside time as well.

A typical day

As I said above, a typical day for us is waking up around 5am, walking our dog, feeding her, taking her out again, and then playing until we leave for work. I come home about 4 hours later to let her out and either go for a walk or play in the yard for a bit and then head back to work. I get home a few minutes after 4 and take her out and then load her up in the car to head to the park, the trails, or the beach for a long walk/ run/ swim or playtime. We head home after that and feed her, eat dinner ourselves, and then spend the evening relaxing together. Well let her out again and then head to bed where she sleeps with us.

Availability

Although I work full time, I wake up very early to walk my dog, feed her, and take her out again. Then I come home at lunch and walk her again. As soon as I get off work you can either find me running my dog on some trails, taking her swimming, walking at the beach, or at the dog park. The rest of my evening is always spent at home with her. My life and my schedule completely revolves around my dog and her needs. I think of her the way I think of my son and make sure she receives tons of exercise and enrichment whether I work that day or not. Our weekends are spent outdoors (weather permitting lol), and my family always makes sure to partake in activities that our dog can be involved in too! We are very active, but you’ll also find us hanging on the couch getting lots of cuddles in.
