Experienced & Trusted Vet Tech

Pet care experience

Hello! My name is Abbie & I'm here to help you out when it comes to your fur kid(s). To tell you a little about myself, I'll start with the obvious: I am an animal lover! Since I can remember, I've always had a special bond with animals. I grew up in a house where we had dogs, cats, horses, birds, fish, iguanas, rabbits, chickens, tortoises, even snakes! I was that kid who was always bringing home a stray puppy or kitten, luckily my parents were animal lovers with big hearts too. Once college rolled around, I discovered a love for science & earned my bachelor's in biology from Texas State in San Marcos. During this time I rode for the Texas State Equestrian team, which is one of the most memorable times from college for me. The barn, with all the horses & other farm critters running around, was my happy place. Once I graduated from Texas State, I started working at a primary care veterinary hospital in San Marcos. I am proud to say I worked there for 4 awesome years & learned so much! In 2018, I decided to say goodbye to my cozy, college town, and I took a job as a technician at the specialty & emergency hospital in Austin with the internal medicine department. This is where I learned about intensive care for animals & assisted in the care of patients who needed chemotherapy, have diabetes or immune-mediated disorders, to name a few of the types of cases we saw on a daily basis. I really put my heart into these patients, made sure they were clean, hand fed them, & costantly checked on them. It was an incredible learning experience, a challange I'm so glad I accepted! After one, incredibly awesome year at the specialty hospital, I decided that primary care was the place for me. Before the pandemic hit, I had just started my last vet tech job in Austin. I worked there for most of 2020 before resigning from my position to pursue at home pet care full time. I have also had the joy of fostering cats & dogs, & have helped with Austin Boxer Rescue & Pets Needing Parents. I did fail once with Austin Boxer Rescue 8 years ago, & ended up adopting my best friend Georgia Peach. She's a 11 year old boxer, the biggest sweetie I know. She has mobility issues so I spend a lot of time tending to her & making her comfortable. She has a fun personality & does love having dog friends over. I also have a cool cat named Kitty Man I found crying outsode my apartment door as a kitten over 6 years ago. He gets along very well with dogs that are cat friendly. As for you, I would love to hear from you & answer any questions you may have about anything! I've been providing service to pet parents for over 8 years now & it's become 2nd nature to me. I know having peace of mind when you leave your fur children with someone is valuable. I can provide that TLC your pet needs while your gone. And if you'd like daily pet dates/pics/videos (I know I enjoy getting those!), I'd be more than happy to do that. I look forward to hearing from you! Also, if your pet has extra energy & has a favorite dog park or trail they like to go on (a run around the lake or the greenbelt), please let me know. I would be happy to take your pupper on an adventure while they are in my care.

Abbie was wonderful and I highly recommend! Both of my cats have medical needs and were recovering from recent procedures when Abbie took care of them. One needed to go to the ER and she responded super quickly! My kitties seemed happy in her care, and she sent lots of pictures - including them dressed up on Christmas!

Definitely recommend! This was our first time leaving our cat since he started needing meds daily. She did a wonderful job checking in and sending pictures of him each trip. Will definitely be booking her again in the future!

Excellent and incredibly professional! Abbie stayed with my dog Mabel for a few days while my wife and I were out of town. Mabel does better in her own home so I was thrilled Abbie did in-home overnight stays. Every day I got updates about my dog, how she was doing and what fun activities they did, and lots of pictures. Abbie was the perfect house guest and left our house even cleaner and neater than when we left. She treated our home and our space, as well as our dog, with care and respect. I cannot recommend Abbie enough for overnight stays as well as day time walks and short visits. She made our dog feel safe, comfortable, and kept her happy the entire time. With Abbie here, we had total peace of mind about being out of town and our dog being cared for.

I can't say enough positive things about Abbie! Selfishly, I want to keep her all to myself! Abbie watched Harper in my home for 6days. Prior to my leaving town Abbie came by a couple of times to meet Harper and understand her routine. She was extremely professional. Always on time and checked in before coming over to confirm my availability. While I was away Abbie checked in regularly and shared pictures of her outings with Harper. I felt so relaxed while I was away and never thought twice about how Harper was doing. She checked in to ensure I was home and that Harper was doing well. My house was in great shape. I will absolutely use Abbie again! 100% recommend her without hesitation! Harper is Abbie's biggest fan!

For walks, I bring water, bags, treats, & a ball. I keep an eye on the dogs breathing & hydration. And if we get a little dirty, I am happy to wash & get your pup cleaned up! I always have an emergency kit in my car or bag. In my home, I provide dog beds, bowls & kennels (if needed). The dogs will be getting bathroom breaks every 2 hour. In the clients home, I try to leave the home cleaner then when they left it, This is a courtesy for trusting & allowing me into their home with their fur kids. We will go on daily walks through their neighborhood, or to an approved spots recommended by the pet parent. Whenever I have a pet in my care, I want my clients to feel at peace & not have to worry if their pet is lonely or sad while they're away. I petsit & dog walk full time. I do dog walks almost every day, & boarding in my home for current clients. My main daily/weekly routine at home is caring for my special needs dog & making sure she is comfortable. She is very bright alert & happy. I take her to therapy a few days a week & revolve my petsitting around her for the moment since she is dependent on me. It's been working out really great though.
