If you haven't already, you need to address this issue with your vet. There are a number of medical problems which could cause vomiting or regurgitation, and a number of problems that will develop because of these issues.

If "human food" works for your cat, then just stick to that. Just make sure your cat is getting everything she needs from her new diet. Pay special attention to the amino acid content of the food you are feeding her. When it comes to amino acids, cats have different needs compared to humans and dogs. They cannot synthesize taurine, for an example, so that definitely needs to be present in her diet.

I had an elderly kitty who used to throw up everything too until I switched her to a hairball formula. Even though it wasn't hairballs she was throwing up, it solved the problem for her immediately. Before that she threw up at least once a day. After switching her food she threw up maybe once a month or less. What worked for her was Hill's Science Diet Mature Adult Hairball Control Dry Cat Food. She loved it, and we were both so much happier without all the vomit. Hope this helps.

Yes, she has been on prescription cat food as well. Nothing seems medically wrong, just her stomach can't tolerate any cat food, wet or dry, fresh pet, blue, etc. Using people food now. Seems to stay down. Now trying to come up with some good recipes. She really likes my creamy tuna, carrots and potato mash.

Hmm, poor kitty. How old is she?

Thanks for asking! She is 19 1/2 years old. She has been the best cat ever. Never had problems until about a year ago. I can feed her canned dog food and she doesn't throw that up, she just doesn't like it very much! So, I mix up a variety of leftover food, put gravy on it, etc. and that seems to keep her going. She loves Talapia fish as well. I know cats need a nutrient called Taurine which is found in fish and eggs, so, I keep a bag of that in the freezer and cook her a piece of fish every evening. Maybe this info will help someone else who is in the same situation.

Wow!! At her age, I'd say feed her whatever she damn well wants! She's earned it. Best of luck to you both! :)

Thanks! :)

Grain free cat food can help with this, as cats don't need grains to begin with.

That's not entirely accurate - since a cat's prey eats grains, seeds, etc, a cat's natural diet absolutely includes those items. Not to say some cats don't have problems digesting some grains, but eliminating a part of an animal's normal diet can be dangerous.

I was only referring to the grains that are added and processed in a food plant, not to any amounts from what prey may have eaten. Reference- http://catinfo.org. I am certainly not a cat food expert.

My 13 1/2 year old cat, Roo, was having the same issues- throwing up, as well as some bloody stool. I researched a TON, as well as talked to some vets and others with elderly cats, and have since switched to GRAIN FREE food- She has not had a bloody bowel movement since, and doesn't throw up much!

When my cat was in her final stages of life I found baby food helped her. It sounds strange, but it is very nutritious and easy for them to eat. It also helped boost her energy!

Peaches is 15, was throwing up & had runny stools. Hairball paste didn't work. I asked a salesperson at Pet Food Express what to do. I now feed her Stella & Chewy's frozen Chick Chick Chicken. Tummy Ticklin' Turkey Dinner Morsels AND Lotus - oven baked crunchy food. No throwing up, stools r hard.
