Why does my dog like to carry my slipper around?

We have a Dachshund who for some reason, loves to carry my slippers around. She will grab one and sit on it, next to it, or bring it on her dog bed with her. Last week when I was leaving the house, I decided to test something. I put my slippers in the wooden shoe bin, and when I got home, she had pulled one out, meaning she had to jump IN the bin to get it.

Is there something extra special about my slipper that she likes? I can't figure it out.

My dog carries my husband's slippers around...not to chew on them, just to have them near. I think he does it to keep his daddy's scent with him...kind of like a safety blanket with little kids.

My doodle brings me my slippers in the morning to tell me it's time to get up. I call her my valet!

It could be the scent on the slipper, it just makes her feel comfortable! It's great that she only likes the slipper and nothing else! Lol. My puppy is starting to do that as well, I believe he is just using it as the scent of me, when I leave the house for comfort.

Definitely concur. It is the scent of the handler that comforts the dog. When dogs come for a stay, I recommend that the owners bring some unwashed socks or an old tshirt to put where the dog sleeps for them to have security and comfort.
