Have you ever had a dog jump at your window tearing down blinds waiting for owner to return?

I had one do it. Couldnt even distract him with treats. I had to block room with front window. Is there a Rover assistance with property damage from a person's dogs? Just curious.

I am sorry this happened to you, unfortunately, the answer is no. Rover insurance only covers dog to dog injuries, and OWNERs' properties if you watch the dog in THEIR house. (personally I do not think this insurance is very useful). The only thing you can do is to settle the damage with the owners on your own. I hope these owners are gracious and reasonable people. In the future I suggest you have them sign a contract with you, stating property damages do not include in the fee they pay Rover.

I've had the same dog a few times, and the third time she completely destroyed my custom made gate on the deck. Chewed it to bits. Thankfully the owner gave me some money to replace it, but such damage seems to just be part of the job.

This type of behavior indicates the dog has fairly severe separation anxiety, something I always like to ascertain during a M&G. I had one small dog who climbed up on any furniture near the windows, including a glass-topped table. He didn't cause any damage, but I was more concerned about the harm he could do to himself by being up on the glass table with the various items that were on it. For the rest of his stay,I moved all the furniture safely away from the windows, so he couldn't climb up. However, in general, I will not accept dogs with severe separation anxiety because of the damage they have the potential to do to my home. They do better in their own homes, with a sitter staying there or doing visits.

As Mandy has written, Rover's insurance doesn't cover any damage to your home. If the damage is substantial, then your homeowner's policy might cover it, but then you might run into problems if the insurance company deems this a commercial activity that isn't covered and cancels your coverage because it would require business insurance.
