It's cold outside but my husky doesn't care—he still wants to run all day. We'll give him plenty of walks and exercise, but does anyone have any tips for extra indoor activities that might help tire him out and keep his mind stimulated?
A few short training sessions (5-10 mins) throughout the day can help calm a high energy dog. Mental exertion can be just as tiring as physical exertion, so try working on a few new tricks. Tug is physically exhausting and doesn't need a large space. Teach him a game like "find it" where you hide his toys/treats and he has to search for them. Bones and long lasting food toys/chews can also help.
With my dog I chase him around or give him a big chew bone and he will be good for hours
We tend to throw a ball down the stairs and our dogs run to get them, gives them a work out without too much effort on my part
So I bought my dogs a toy mouse that runs around the house and i have the controler so i make sure the mouse runs under something so they won't ketch it we have hours of fun. The at it all day when it rains. Or you can the lazer light and run him crazy my little dog likes that one.
I throw the frisbee till my dog gets tired when I get home. Or at least till I'm frozen.
