Sitters: do you require the owners to furnish proof of vaccination for their pets prior to their stay?

I have always asked for their vaccination records just to keep other dogs that stay with me safe. There I can see their health history, weight (I have a weight restriction) and if they've been neutered/spayed. I ask, for the safety of my own dogs as well as guest dogs.
Depends. I send a questionnaire out to owners where they indicate their dog's current vaccinations. I make it clear what activities I can allow depending on vaccination. Essentially, I only require the legal minimum (rabies), but if they don't have their combo/bordatella, I'll minimize their contact with other dogs, aside from my own and those I know to be fully vaccinated, and if they don't have lepto, I'll be more vigilant about stopping them from drinking from puddles/streams. I always make sure to get their vet info, so if I needed vaccine records I could check up on them with the vet. I've only asked for proof on longer sits where I've considered taking the dogs to a facility that requires it. There's an indoor dog park, a doggy daycare with happy hour where dogs play free while you hang out in the cafe, and a dog gym here in Portland with private play areas and agility equipment and such, and they require proof of vaccinations for every dog you bring. Since I had two active dogs with me for over 2 weeks in December/early Jan, I wanted that as an option if the weather turned nasty and outdoor activities became less savory.

We're frequently rated #1 best city in the US for dogs/dog lovers. There's a food cart that appears at the downtown dog parks that sells dog ice cream and dog beer (and nothing for humans.. though they point out it's all human grade ingredients, so, have at it I guess?). There are 32 off leash parks, including one that's over 1500 acres. Most any store that doesn't sell food allows dogs inside, including Kitchen Kaboodle. Why does your dog need fancy kitchen stuff? I don't know, but my girls love it there because the staff fawns over them.

Wow! And I thought San Diego was dog-friendly. I've never even heard of a food cart for dogs! We have great events like Woofstock and Howl-O-ween parades and Doggie Surf Contests. Haha - the more you know.
