what age is a puppy considered?

If I have a 11 month old dog who is potty trained, would he be considered at a puppy rate on Rover?

Hi Ginger- A puppy is usually considered up to the age of 1 yr old. Sitters want and need to make sure the puppy/dog have and are up to date on vaccinations and are hopefully house trained. Large breeds may not mature until they are 15 months old. Puppies do require a lot more work that a mature/older dog.

Rover's cutoff is 1 year, so if you send a request to any sitter it will automatically select the puppy rate. The sitter can change which rate they use as necessary, so it is entirely within their discretion to use the adult rate for a particularly mature 11 mo old or the puppy rate for an exuberant 13 mo old. You might consider asking if a sitter is willing to charge you the adult rate after they've had a chance to evaluate your pup at the meet and greet, but you may find that there are very few who would be willing to do that, especially on a first stay, because we never entirely know what we're getting ourselves into when taking in a new dog.

It really depends on the breed, however for all intents and purposes of this website, I would agree with the above comment that 1 year old and under is generally considered a puppy - though I imagine it varies from sitter to sitter.
