Hi, I need some feedback. As a pet sitter, how much would you charge for an overnight stay for a client with 3 dogs, including 3 walks/day who lives 20 miles from you?

House sitting is an all-inclusive rate, just like boarding. You don't charge for the walks when a dog stays with you, do you?

According to your rate table, it would be $65 plus $35 for each additional dog, for a total of $135/night. FYI, there is no "overnight" service. When someone books you for house sitting, they expect you to stay at the house and each "night " of care is good for up to 24 hours. You are not required to spend every single minute at the home, but you should expect to be there a majority of the time, including the entire evening until the morning. Many sitters also perform walks and drop-ins for other clients during the day and use the house as a base of operations.

I think it depends on the area, and how many reviews you have. I moved last November and before I did I looked at all the sitters in my new city and started right in the middle of the rates being charged. I have since raised my rates a little to reflect the amount of reviews I have and to get more high end clientele.

OHHHH WEEE I love questions like this Now I am an old lady so I am a cheap date. A cup of soup & a Lemon drop Martini and I'm yours ! First I would talk to your client to see what her expectations are for this stay, so everyone is on the same page. Things to consider:

1. Transportation/Time 20 miles X 2 = 40 miles> Time 40 minutes X 2 = 80 minutes> Gas used....Total $38.00
2. Who's buying meals? If she says eat whats there or you can say I will furnish my own meals Breakfast lunch dinner.Total-$22.00
3. Will she expect you to do cleanup ? Dogs made a mess. Part of the job. Water line breaks HELP ! A little nice touch might be running the sweeper just before they return (Especially if the dogs shed.??

4. Dog sitting hmmm 1 night 3 pups.... House sitting Go 20 % over what boarding at your home would be for 3 dogs . Walks the same 20 % over. 3rd dog is free %. Add in your tranportation cost. Thats your total. Set it in stone so things go smooth.
