Any help with non-stop barking?

How do I help a boarding dog with extreme separation anxiety and is deaf that has been sitting by the front door and barking for 2 days and nothing I do makes him stop - I have 6 more days with him! I’ve rewarded him when he’s quiet (rare), I’ve cuddled him, given him bones to chew on, etc. I finally gave him a benedryl and that didn’t work!! Any other ideas are more than welcome!

I had a dog that would not stop grunting/crying for treats and because of anxiety. I recommend taking them outside more either to potty or for walks. Playtime, mental stimulation toys, like treat mats, and cuddles/massages usually help distract and ease them for some time. Communicating this with the owner and asking for extra tips while adding what you have already tried might help as well. Other than that I would have patience and try waiting it out.

It’s going to depend on how old the doggie is. If it’s a young one, I would suggest take him on a long walk until he gets tired, then a little later play fetch the ball. Young pups need to release the energy in order to calm down. Also, with the owners permission, I would give him a calming treat. There are CBD ones that work good. Keep a feeding and sleeping schedule if you can. If the doggie is older, the walk is definitely needed for releasing energy, and also the calming treats. An interacting game like find the cookie could work also. Also try to use a jumping toy or noise making toy, like the balls that squeak when they roll. So in my opinion the best tool is to make them tired and lose the energy. I pray these tips can help you. It’s not easy with a barker. God bless you. Ana.

I had 2 dogs for 2 weeks, same household. It was awful to say the least. My fiancé actually slept outside on night. The owners advice was to hold them non stop or put them in a 9, yes nine, minute time out. Nose in corner, and if they looked out of it to show them timer and restart it. Needless to say I was on my own. I had to get bark collars. I use them on my own dogs, they weren’t being shocked to death. It was the only thing that helped. Calming treats weren’t helping. One of them also only used peen pads which is fine with me except owner didn’t tell me ahead of time nor did they provide any. Also sent a week of food only and said I could just go buy more cause they didn’t wanna go to store.

A dog with an extreme separation anxiety is gonna be very scared and sad, crying all day and night for their owners. There's not much you can do. Owners would normally give you their prescribed mediation. Have they left it with you? I ask owners to bring their dogs favorite toy, favorite blankie, their dog house/crate (as majority of these extremely anxious dogs will want their safe space to be brought with them). I also ask if the owner can leave a "used" shirt with their scent so the dog can keep it in the crate.

Anxious crying dogs are scared, freaked out, anxious and you can only give them their prescribed meds, take long walks, play calming nature music and make sure they got their own doggy bed/crate with them.

I have a repeat client that barks so much at everything every time she comes to stay with me. I just take her out more and drive her to other places. It seems that works and also she is very quiet in the car and even falls asleep peacefully. I am assuming it is because of my neighbors that keep opening and closing doors downstairs and it just maybe stresses her out.
