Client booked me for house sitting but didn’t really book me?

Hello. I got a message from a client a week ago requesting to house sit during the holidays. We met up, she showed me around, I got the keys and that was that. My concern is that in the Rover app she is still under pending as she did not initiate the booking yet and the house sitting starts in a couple days. I do not want to do all this work and not get paid because it wasn’t confirmed in app yet. I thought about it and how easily a client can book you without really booking you. They can just act like they ghosted you and chose someone else. Am I getting this wrong? What should I do? Thanks!

You have the keys. Unless they are fake, no way she's doing this on purpose.

I highly suggest you call the client using the Rover number provided and remind them to finalize the booking. This commonly happens with new Rover clients

I agree. I get many new clients that aren't familiar with how the process works, so when I meet them I let them know to finalize the booking. If I don't hear from them within a couple days of the meet n greet, I message them to remind them to finalize.

Yes. If they're new clients to Rover it takes a while to navigate through everything n getting familiar enough to venture out n check things out n then leave a review.

Typically I will hit “book” in the rover app after a meet and greet goes well and we both feel comfortable with going ahead with the booking. A lot of people are new to rover and don’t totally know how it works, and that usually works as a gentle nudge to get a client to confirm a booking. That being said, this doesn’t work for everyone. I’ve even encountered clients who haven’t put their address in on the app, and rover won’t allow me to press “book”. I will normally say something about how great it was to meet them and their pet and that I look forward to working with them, then remind the client to fill in this information (if they haven’t already) and say that I don’t feel comfortable reserving the time that they’re requested until they’ve confirmed/paid.
