Does the "house sitting" service mean the pet sitter stays at your home overnight with your pet, or do they just go over a few times a day?

Need to decide between house sitting vs board sitting. Does the pet sitter stay overnight with your pet when they "house sit?"

As Walt has written, Rover has defined the terms house sitting and boarding.

They absolutely should stay overnight in your home if providing house sitting. However, I've read here numerous times sitters who offer that service but don't want to sleep over at the home.

There is a wide range of interpretation among Rover sitters about what constitutes house sitting. Some will move in but also do drop-ins and walks for other dogs using your home as a base of operation. Others may only be there from 7 pm to 7 am and have regular full-time jobs. Some will check in on the dog in the middle of the day; some may charge you extra for a drop-in visit or walk. So it is always good to go over your expectations with the potential sitter. Be sure to ask each and every sitter you contact about what their rate includes, eg, the hours, the number of walks, etc.

On Rover, you can book:

Boarding: Your pet stays overnight in the sitter’s home.

House Sitting: Sitters watch your pet overnight in your home.

Day Care: Drop off your pet at your sitter's home in the morning and pick them up in the evening.

Dog Walking: Your dog gets a 30-minute or 60-minute walk around your neighborhood.

Drop-In Visits: Sitters stop by your home for 30 minutes to feed and play with your pet
