My Adult Dog Won't Leave Our New Puppy Alone! Help?

We just got a new puppy and we also have a 1 year old poodle. The Poodle is pretty well behaved and I still train her everyday...I have a problem though, she will NOT leave our new puppy alone! The puppy is constantly being playfully harassed...( As in my older dog bites the puppy's neck gently to initiate play and likes to mouth him. ) The puppy seems to enjoy it to an extent but seems to want to do other things too ( such as play with toys ect. ) My poodle just constantly wants to play the mouthing game with my new puppy and I have to separate them so the puppy gets a break...

Is this normal? Does anyone have any advice?

We have had this new puppy for only a week so I am thinking some of this obsessive behavior could just be from the excitement of a new dog in the family? What do you think?

Thank you!

How did you introduce the 2 dogs to each other? How old is the puppy? The poodle is still, technically, a puppy and is displaying typically puppy behavior by wanting to play with another dog. Are they the same breed? Same size? You will need to learn to separate the 2 so that they can have "downtime" from each other. It could take a short period of adjustment, but the 2 will learn from each other what the boundaries are for playing and being apart from each other.
