How do I calm down my puppy?

When I am training my puppy or am playing with him, he has sudden outbursts of energy, you could say he has zoomies. Sometimes it gets to the point where he tries to bite my ankles and hands. I have tried to calm him down by telling him to go to his crate or place, but he continues to go crazy. When this happens, I pick him up and isolate him in a different area. What can I do?
