My puppy jumps on and off of furniture and I am concerned about his joints and health?

I discovered recently that jumping up and down is bad for puppies. My puppy has been jumping up and down on furniture a lot. I am currently teaching him not to get on furniture, but I am concerned about my puppy’s health and the effects that the jumps have already had on his joints. He is 9 months old and has been jumping since he was around 4 or 5 months old. Would joint supplements help to lessen the potential damage or long-term effects on his joints? What can I do?

At his regular exams, ask puppy's vet to assess his joints and if applicable make a recommendation. My adult dog's vet does that and the supplement he takes has 4 levels of strength based on the individual dog's evaluation.

My 12-year old dog's leg is currently splinted and bandaged for 6 weeks because he fractured a toe doing just that, i.e., jumping down from a chair I suspect. I wasn't home when he did this but he was fine before since we had been outside for a walk. I wouldn't expect a puppy's bone to break/fracture but it is probably a good thing to discourage the habit now.
