what is the definition of doggy daycare by sitter's home?

i have a puppy who is 9month old. i work full time so i typically come home during lunch time to let her out/play/snacks. but i would like to have an option to take my pup to a daycare at sitter's home. so i can stay at work all day when i need to. but i am kind of lost as to what is the expectation i need to have for the doggy daycare.

i had an impression that the doggy daycare service by sitter means that the sitter will stay at home with your pup most of the day with the exception of going to store/errands for some necessities for 30min or 1 hour at a time. but i might be wrong...

my pup is crate trained, so she can stay in crate up to 6 hours. but if that's what happens at the sitter's home then i don't really see any benefit of taking her to daycare. i could just have someone drop by to let her out.

any thoughts and opinions are appreciated!!

An actually Definition I don't think really would work here. Each sitter can have their own idea of what they consider to be acceptable for Doggie Day Care.

I am home full times with the pups, granted like you said, I may need to run to the store or may have a drop in visit schedule for that day but I am never going for more then an hour or two at the very max.

I would recommend to schedule a meet and greet with a couple of sitters and see which one you like the best. During your meet and greet you want to make sure you ask the sitter what she does during the day and what she considers Doggie Day Care to be? (I recommend not telling her what you consider it to be until after she tells you what her explanation.) But I would strongly encourage you to tell her what your expectations are and what exactly you are looking for in a sitter.

(you mentioned that you dog is good for 6 hours in the crate. I personally would not tell the sitters that but rather tell them how long you are okay with your Dog being in a crate. just so there is no confusion)

But again, each sitter is different so do make sure to ask them during the meet and greet.

Best of Luck!

I agree with Erica - it will depend on the sitter, so it's important to find one that will provide what you need for your pup. I let potential clients know up front that I might be out for an hour or so on any given day for visits with other clients and then we clarify what would be best for their pup while I'm out (crate, pen, separate room, etc.). Only if I can provide the arrangements the client prefers would I take the new pup for daycare. After all, this is about giving your pup a safe and better experience than being home alone when you have to be at work.
