How do you stop a big dog like a great dane from pulling on walks?

I occasionally walk a great dane and she pulls on walks.

You need to stop moving forward when your dog is pulling the walk. I know it is hard because great Danes are large breed dogs. It is not easy to walk with them. However, you can give your great and treats when she walks by your side. It will motivate her.

I only walk dogs on Rover and I feel your pain as it's not easy walking a big dog and especially one who pulls! Sometimes you have to try different gear to find something that works as all dogs are different; for some harnesses or an easy leader work, but for some not. Personally, I use a Walk-EZ leash/harness for my big guys and pullers and I've found them very effective in cutting down on pulling, so much I've given them to clients that needed them. Best $20 I've ever spent. https://www.walkezleash.com/

I am a big fan of gentle leaders. The, "Gentle Leader" has been around for years. It goes around the dogs muzzle, the idea is when you control the dogs head, their body will follow. It takes a little getting use to but with a little patience and practice, I've always had good luck. The other thing I do is if the dog is food motivated *and does not have any food allergies) , I take yummy treats with me. (Hotdogs, chicken squares, ect.) When the dog stays next to me, they get a treat. Best of Luck!
