What is the first thing to do if a dog has a blood clot?

A friend of mine called me saying their dog has a blood clot and I told him to go to the vet. Is there anything else he can do?

Hi! You were absolutely right, your friend needs to immediately call the vet or take him/her to an animal emergency hospital if one is open. Most of us on here are not vets (though some are vet techs) and most, if not all, will tell you we can't really provide diagnosis or treatment for medical issues as we are not experts. Plus, you would really need a vet to confirm the clot and any suggested treatments. If there is an issue getting the dog in touch with the vet right now because of COVID-19 there are likely other vets that are available in the area to deal with urgent situations. Good luck to your friend and his/her doggy!
