New Puppy, Has anyone seen this behavior?

I just got an 8-week old golden retriever I've had her for six days and she's incredibly sweet and loving. However, she likes to sleep in my bathroom. It's a few feet from my home office and she always comes when I call her. She has recently started this, once I started leaving the door open. She has to lay on a piece of clothing (I sometimes leave dirty clothes in there after I shower, oops). When I'm off work she'll happily lay on the couch with me, have playtime and cuddle with me on the floor. She never eats my clothes or chews on them she just sleeps on them, she likes sleeping in her crate at night but I have two huge dog beds from my Lab who passed away a few months ago but she won't lay on them (I did wash them). I've just never seen this behavior before?! My lab had to be next to me, I thought since she was a golden she would be slightly similar...

Wow, it’s probably safe to assume the lab was an adult, if not senior. Just like people, dogs have their own personality and you ought to know how unrealistic it is to place expectations on any breed just bc it’s a certain breed. Hopefully this poor dog wasn’t made to become neurotic.

Most dogs I've known LOVE to lay on their family's laundry, whether clean or dirty. Dogs sense of smell is way stronger than humans ans they pick up on scents that are likely undetectable to most humans.

My hunch is that she detects the Lab's scent (and if previously ill, that illness). You could test this by placing the large dog beds elsewhere and putting something else down that you're okay with her laying on (old bedding, towels, etc.) where you'd like her to lay. If she does, then you can continue providing those items or select a new bed for her.

My puppy LOVES to sleep in the bathroom! I think it may be a bit cooler in there, which he prefers. My older dog also loves sleeping or laying with my clothes. This is because it holds our scent on them, which they love having close by! This is a major sign of affection and love towards you! It also may make them feel a bit safer and more comforted. Definitely not an issue unless of course they begin to chew up your clothes.. which mine occasionally does. Otherwise, it shouldn't be an issue at all!
