With the coronavirus taking away basically all of my income, will Rover be able to compensate me?

My main income is from Rover and I currently attend college. I easily make enough each month to support myself, and I've been saving money for rent. My school just announced that they will be closing, and I don't have a place to live anymore, but I don't want to get an apartment without knowing I'll still have income for rent. With the coronavirus taking away basically all of my income, will Rover be able to compensate me?

I can't answer for Rover, and Rover doesn't answer anything here BTW. However, you don't work for Rover and aren't a Rover employee. You are an independent contractor using its platform.

I am very sorry about your circumstances but I would say there's zero likelihood Rover would compensate you in any way.

Getting money to people all over the country is what many are pushing for at the Federal level.

I agree; can’t speak for Rover, but they don’t have any obligation to compensate contractors because less clients are requesting services. Rover & Wag are currently my only sources of income as well, and it sucks, but they do not guarantee a certain amount of work for any contractor. We’re not even employed by them.

HOWEVER, look at your state’s Unemployment benefits department. I live in California and they are offering people affected by COVID-19 who can’t work because of it to apply for Unemployment Benefits. They are even waiving the week waiting period. We are technically self employed and probably fall into that category? I’m going to check it out myself and read more. But check it out at least!
