What is the best product to clean urine smell?

what is best product to clean away urine smell?

Comments

Natures Miracle is superb for cat urine. However, I have seen a lot of people do not use it correctly. If the urine is down in the pad, it must be covered with the product and fans to dry. The smell does not go away until its dried. I clean many things with Vinegar.

I tried using the expensive products from the store and it worked but my dog kept peeing in the same spot. I used vinegar and my dog stopped peeing in that spot. Vinegar is cheap, natural and safe.

Thanks!! As a lot of the companies test on animals anyway (i.e. my favorite Resolve product). What do you use with vinegar to get the yellow color out?

I've heard a lot of people swear by Nature's Miracle. My personal favorite is Fresh 'n Clean. But if your budget is really tight, vinegar works, too. The important thing is if the urine is on carpet, you have to apply enough of whichever product you're using to soak all the way down. Also, it's best to create some sort of barrier (like an upside-down laundry basket) over the treated spot until it dries. I think before it dries, pets can still smell the urine even after treatment while it's still wet, and they'll be drawn to mark that same area. Hope this helps.

I've used Nature's Miracle and Kids N Pets primarily because they're cheap and pretty effective, and one or both products can be found at pretty much any grocery or pet store. Both can take multiple treatments and, as Shannon said, no matter what you use, you have to use enough to soak through the entire stain, which can take a lot more product than you expect. Vinegar will fix the odor as far as humans being able to smell it and will leave you with an effectively cleaned material, but it doesn't completely remove or cover the scent for cats or dogs like an enzymatic cleaner does, and some pets will be encouraged to mark over areas cleaned with vinegar, so it really depends on your pets whether or not this is an effective method. If it works for you, it's definitely the cheapest option.

If you have a smelly spot outside, like from a favorite pee-spot, you can make your own natural deodorizer. I will douse an area with water mixed with baking soda and pureed citrus peels. Baking soda neutralizes the acid/ammonia from the pee, and then the natural oils in the citrus peels will "mask" the smell. Definitely needs a couple applications, but it really works. Encouraging your pet to mix up the pee locations helps too ;)

If its outside I found that baking soda works really well for concrete. I sprinkle it around then wet it and brush it with a broom. Let it sit for a few minutes then wash it down. Seems to work the best so far.

I've tried Natures Miracle but wasn't happy with the results. We used Odoban at the pet resort and it's amazing. You can find it usually at auto parts stores and Home Depot or Lowes.

While watching a family's dog, they told me the one dog sometimes had accidents in his cage. She left me a bottle of bleach spray, but it was safe for animals. Look for something that has more of a organic spray than the hard duty one.
