Owner wants to pay via Paypal?

I refused a request after a meet & greet - just got a weird vibe about the owners. They said they were interviewing 3 other people, seemed wishy washy, and clearly didn't read my profile then said they would let me know if I was chosen. I got a message just now that they want to have 2 sitters and want to pay me directly via Paypal.

Is this a violation on the part of the owner? Shall I report them and how do I do so? I have no intention of accepting shady payment arrangements on Rover or anywhere else and my instincts were coret - these people were off the wall.
