Rover insurance?

I see a lot of posts between sitters talking about the Rover insurance that covers the pet you are sitting/walking. I have looked all over Rover and do not see where Rover has insurance. I see a Rover Guarantee that they will find another sitter if you are unable to fulfill a booking, but no insurance. Is there insurance, and if so, what does it cover?

Rover has changed and renamed it as their Guarantee. It used to be called insurance or protection plan, which is why the older questions would have called it that. I don't recall when it was changed, as Rover didn't make a big announcement that I recall and quietly scaled back on its protection.

When you click on the links from this page:

https://support.rover.com/hc/en-us/ar...

you will see monetary limits, information about claims, etc., but you also need to read the Guarantee's Terms and Conditions, which are also linked.

The most relevant part is this line IMO The Rover Guarantee exists to fill the gap when the responsible party—usually the pet care provider—is unable or unwilling to pay for costs arising from damage or injury attributable to his or her negligence, and when insurance is not available. Rover would be looking to you, as the service provider, first to resolve the claim, using your insurance first and if that is not available, then stepping in.

For a long time I had actually thought Rover provided insurance and it was one of the reasons I never minded the 25% they take (I went for Rover Go because there were so many high-rated sitters in my area that didn't charge much and I wanted whatever edge I could get) - I know other people get 20% taken). When I read the "guarantee" a while ago and realized it wasn't really insurance I have to admit I was disappointed. What are they doing with all the money they are getting from me and other sitters? Sure, there have been some updates to the app that make it better but still not great and they have staff. I concur with Karen on that one paragraph at the end pretty much saying it all. I don't believe we can count on their "guarantee" to cover anything at all which is really sad given how much we pay.

I can guarantee Rover DOES NOT COVER ANY SITTER INJURIES WHATSOEVER, not even fucking band aids.

I couldn't agree with you more! As a full-time sitter who brings in a hefty amount of money to Rover, I have no idea what the 20% commission is going towards. When I wrote Rover an inquiry, I was not given a straightforward answer! I personally do not feel Rover has sitters best interest whatsoever.

Sure Rover provides some coverage for the client's dog but does NOT provide the sitter with liability insurance. Should something catastrophic happen; the dog dies in your care or gets lost the client can and may possibly sue you. So the bottom line is Rover does not cover the sitters back. Please consider purchasing your own insurance policy for peace of mind.

Do you have a separate insurance policy you recommend using?

Hello ! Do you know what’s the name of the insurance ? Where I could find more information about it? Makes a lot of sense

Confirmed, Rover does not cover sitter injuries whatsoever.

How does one go about getting insurance?

Agreed with above comments. 20% commission is a lot! And the commission Rover took from our paycheque only covers pet owners, not us! Pet sitters ‘ house damage caused by the pet and pet sitters injuries are not covered. It does not make any sense to me . Not at all .

If it only cover pet owners, then the insurance coverage premium should paid by pet owners, not us. Just like rent a car. It’s car owners choice wether to pay the insurance or not. We don’t earn that much
