Why is puppy waking up in the night for no reason?

I have a 3 1/2 month old puppy who is crate trained and has consistently slept through the night. Recently he's started waking up in the middle of the night for no reason that I can tell, other than to snuggle. How can I get him to go back to sleeping through the night?

I had this also a long time ago, I eventually had to ignore him to get him to sleep through the night. Once he was sleeping again I did end up letting him sleep in my bed because I allow my animals up on the bed.

. If your dog is waking you up more than it used to, a medical problem could be affecting its sleep or stress levels. Visiting a vet is an excellent first step so you can rule out this possibility, or catch problems early. Even if your pet is not sick, a vet can help you pinpoint the cause.

The number of hours a puppy can hold going to the bathroom is often their age in months. For example, a 3 month old puppy typically has to go potty every 3 months. You might want to try taking him out. Another issue could just be that he's gotten in a habit and has, in turn, trained you to snuggle with him. Without more details, I suspect this is the real cause. This just takes some re-training. Here is a link to a really good blog that addresses puppy sleeping that might help: https://www.rover.com/blog/teach-pupp...

Good luck!
