Can I charge to take a dog to the vet to have stitches out after they have been spayed ?

I request that all the dogs I watch be fixed. I will or might be watching a dog that will ahve to be taken ot the vet to have her stitches out after having been spayed. There is no place ot mark for a charge like this. Taking a dog to teh vet for soemthign like this is a first for me.I cna understand if teh dog gets sick or something happens ot ti while you are watching it but thsi is almost like taking teh dog for a regular check up to the vet b/c the owner will be out of town. I just want ot make sure it is ok If I say soemthign liek it will be an extra $5 to take the dog to the vet for this esp sionce tehre is no place to mark soemthign such as this.

Use the pickup and dropoff rate to charge for doing this service or modify the booking as Walt has suggested. Given that this will likely take longer, you should make sure the round-trip charge is enough. Mine is $20. However, you should look at the total amount of time and how far you need to go.

I just had to deal with this myself. The only problem is I could not charge pick up or drop off because it won't come up for housesitting in their house. I talked to customer support and I just had to put it in as additional fee. I didn't feel it right to charge for time I'm already being paid for.

Sorry, ran out of space. I just charged for gas because I feel like my time is already being paid for for housesitting.

Very true about there not being a drop-off/pick-up fee when house sitting. It wasn't apparent to me if Kim was house sitting, although it actually makes more sense that she would be for a dog that had recently been spayed. Anyway, I take your point about feeling the customer has already paid...

for your time. However, there is a wide range of interpretation on how house sitting is performed on Rover, and many only charge a nominal fee and don't spend their entire time there. Your higher fees might reflect not only your location but also your professional experience and time commitment.

The dog/puppy will be staying at my house with me. Providing things work out with the meet and greet.Sorry if I didn't make it clear.

Definitely charge them a fee. Is this dog under 1 year and qualifies for the puppy rate? You charge **less** for a puppy than an adult dog. Puppies are more work. Also you charge **less** for holidays. No one does that. You need to fix these things on your rate table.

thanks for bringing that to my attention I forgot to up those rates last year when I upped the other rates

I would expect that taking the dog to the vet during the stay will take at least 1 hour of your time plus the gas. I would at least ask the client for an additional $20-30 to take the dog to the vet. If you need help with modifying the booking call support [Edit: Rover’s contact options have changed.
