Are you concerned about vaccinations being up to date?

I own 2 Shih-Tzu's. I have to look out for their well being.

For the safety of my dog and other dogs in my care I require proof of vaccinations and I have mentioned it on my profile as well. Some canine diseases such as rabies, parvo and distemper are highly contagious and have a high mortality rate.

Yes and you should to. Learned my lesson this year when a good repeat client's dog brought kennel cough into my home. My sister's dog came down with it, had to remove myself from available 10 days and disinfect my home. Cost me lots of money. Now owner hasn't contacted probably thinks dog caught it

All evidence seems to show his dog brought here. No dogs before him reported sick, our dog came down w it after his left and no dogs immediately after reported sick. I checked on all. Most services dealing with dogs ask for proof, you should too.

To protect the health of our dog and guest dogs, we require they be current on vaccinations and free of internal and external parasites. Dogs must have the DA2PL-Parvo, Bordetella (Kennel Cough), and Canine Influenza vaccines annually and Rabies every 1-3 years and we require written proof before we will accept any client. In addition, we require all dogs to have a current stool fecal test within 6 months. This will help ensure that they are free of internal parasites.

Walt - I'm curious if you still take puppies who have not had the chance to receive all their vaccinations?

Then ask the owners to provide documentation at your Meet & Greet. It isn't all that difficult to obtain from a vet's office. Many allow their customers to go online to check records. So just ask. Make it a requirement before any dog can stay at your home.

Actually, that is exactly what I did and its noted on my profile. I was wondering if anyone else makes this mandatory because i lost a potential client for requesting documentation.

It is mandatory for me and no one has ever refused. Most boarding and doggie daycare facilities here require it as well and require dogs to be vaccinated for canine influenza.
