Do you have to be a pet owner to be a pet sitter?

I currently work for another pet sitting company that I'm not real happy with and am thinking of switching, so I was just wondering if you have to be a pet owner to be a sitter with this company.

No you do not. I currently don't own a pet but I've been with Rover for about 8 months and have had many happy clients. You will initially need testimonials from several people that speak to your capabilities as a pet sitter, and these can be from clients, family and friends.

I've boarded in our home for the past 11+ years. In all that time, we've never actually owned a dog. People are usually surprised when they hear about my affinity for dogs, but lack of actual pet. I try to quickly point out that it allows me to care for dog-reactive dogs.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that feels that way. Thank you

No, as Cari explained above. In fact, there are many people who would prefer that sitter not have any dogs of his/her own. It can be a search criteria.
