Will my new puppy ever pee in the yard?

We just got a new puppy (4 mos) and she is very timid, I realize that her world has totally changed having come from a foster home with several other dogs to a home with just people. We are trying to potty train by going out to a designated spot in the yard, she has not peed in the yard, she has only been going potty maybe 2 x per day. We take her out on the leash and wait 10min or so, and try again......even on her walks she doesn’t go. Any tips/ tricks? Thank you for any help..

Hey there! I had the same experience with my rescue - she was potty-shy for a lack of a better way to put it. We would do the same thing, she hardly ever went. Didn't poop for like.. 36 hours when we first took her home!

Just be patient. I experienced this identical issue and with persistence your pup will clue in that you're only going out to pee. I would suggest if you're trying to train her that it's only a pee break, continue to take her out to the same spot and if she doesn't pee then she's lost her chance. Something I've experienced with training this is that if you go for a walk instead - they might learn that if they don't pee they get to stay out for longer and it turns into a walk instead of a pee.

Give it some time - every dog is different and it might just take some patience for her to make the connection. Good luck!
