Owner wants me to watch the dogs fro 2 days but booked it as 1 overnight stay for only 1 day rate. How do I fix?

They want me to watch the dogs 7 am - 5 pm both days with no overnight. However, they booked it as a single overnight stay with both dates. How do I make sure I get paid for both days?

First off - have you clarified with the customer what the price is for 2 days without overnights? If it's the same as a 2-night stay, you can do the following:

On the page where your conversations with this customer are, there is an "extend stay" link on the left side. Click that and you should be able to up it to two nights. Just make sure the customer is clear that "2 nights" actually means 2 days and it's the same price. If it's a completely different price and you need to set a new rate, you may need to contact Rover Support since this customer already paid for the one overnight, so I don't think you can adjust the rates retroactively.

Wish they would make the options clear when booking between day care and over night care

Hi Monica - there are a number of ways you can set it up. Since the overnight stay covers the dates of both daycare days you can leave the stay dates alone, and just adjust the rate to reflect your price for two days of daycare. Though you can use Rover for a variety of services, the reservation system is clearly set up for boarding/overnight travel sitting in the way everything is worded. However, everything is adjustable, so as long as you and your client are clear on what you want, you can adjust the booking to reflect that in a variety of ways. So long as the stay dates include all the days you'll be providing care (to make sure the Rover insurance will cover you while you are sitting), and the total cost is correct, you're good to go.

If the client is having issues understanding why it would be a different price, you can explain that one night of boarding covers a 24 hour period of time. During that time, you're not only caring for their dog, but you're also attending to any other animals in your care, doing your chores, stepping out to do errands, and also sleeping. The dog is not getting your full attention that whole time (or even most of that time), but is a guest in your home. For daycare, you are present for the entire stretch, and the dog is getting much more focused attention. They're paying for the energy and effort you're putting in, which is far more concentrated for a daycare scenario than an overnight visit.

The pet owners adjusted it to cover both days. I think it would be nice if there was a breakdown in the menu options to include daycare and over night. It would save the hassle of sounding greedy having to sort it out yourselves or sound like you are trying to do something outside of what Rover offers. It just sounds that way to me. If it was set up in menu for day care it could also confirm drop off and pick up times. I just think it would be great help. If they drop off the dogs on Thursday at 7am, then the 24 hr over night stay ends on Fri at 7am when they drop them off for the 2nd day.

I agree. I think a daycare option is definitely needed. It's easy enough to work around, but we shouldn't have to. It would be pretty simple to itemize it like you can for walks.

Totally agree with sitters who want and need a daycare or per visit option. Such a lucrative opportunity for sitters and Rover. The workarounds for clients are awkward and misleading on quick view profiles. I live in a mid-size midwestern city with tons of medical and insurance professionals who need someone to care for their pets during the day when they're in surgery or all day meetings. PLEASE Rover simply add the drop down option to set prices per visit. We'd all make more money!

I am having a little issue with this as well. I want to charge per day not per night.
