Dog runs circles around table over and over?

My dog, a German Shepherd male, (7 months) runs a circle around our table over and over. He sniffs the floor like he is going after something but runs the same path for about 30 minutes. He does this a few times a day for and has been doing this for a while. We have to put him outside to stop him. Is this anything to worry about? Why does he do this?

He is a German Shepherd...a working breed. That dog needs a job and numerous types of daily exercise! Get him involved in agility or any structured obedience or herding sport. He needs to be mentally and physically stimulated everyday. No running or high repetitive jumping til 15 mnths due 2 hips.

Hi there,

I had a dog who did that and it ended up that she had a liver shunt. This is when the liver isn't working properly and is actually dumping toxins straight into your dog's brain. While this is more common in smaller breeds, it does happen in larger dogs.

Best to have your vet check your pup out.

Your puppy could be very excited! Dogs with a lot of energy need more exercise, or else they'll find they're own solution. My puppy gets the zoomies and will run laps in the house like crazy when it's time for food, they think someone's coming over, or they're just bored!

Sounds like your pup needs more exercise
