Do you take back up contact info?

I am doing my first boarding, and although I have done all communication through the app and plan to I want to ask for their direct phone number in case of any issues with the app and I need to get through to them. I can't think of anything worse as a dog owner of having something happen to my phone and not be able to get in contact with the person watching my dog.

Are we allowed to ask for their direct phone number (cell) and give them ours just in case but still default all communication through the app?

Yes. Remember you work for yourself, not Rover. You can ask for whatever you want.

I have all owners to fill out a Dog Info sheet that I've created, which asks for their phone number, address, vet info, vaccination info, emergency contact, as well as behavioral info. However, when it comes to emergency contact info, most of my customers put down their spouse/partner and usually they are traveling with that person. Rather worthless IMO. One person gave me her mother's phone number and the mother lives in another state. But I think that's going to be typical of people in my area, i.e., they are usually not from here. I feel I need to be more specific on my form that an emergency contact must be here. Oh well...

Yes. I ask for direct phone numbers and emergency contacts. I do drops and house sittings.
