Limping puppy!! Please help?

Okay so I have a 13 week old Australian shepherd and border collie mix named Louie. About two days ago, someone came over to my house and Louie jumped up to say hello. He jumped about two feet in the air and fell backwards and yelped loudly. Ever since then, he has been limping (sometimes). Sometimes it bothers him, other times, he couldn’t care less about it. The fall seemed like it was nothing, he just seemed to land on his leg wrong. Since he was able to put some weight on it shortly after, I figured it was nothing, but two days later and we’re still limping!! What do you think we should do?? I would love to avoid paying a vet an absorbent amount of money just to find out it has to heal on its own, that’s why I came here first.

Having dogs is a very expensive hobby! Been there. Do visit a vet, try a the vet for low income people, they do exist! Get your puppy checked out for sure, leaving him in pain is cruel and also it may cost you even more in the future if you don't take care of it now. Good luck.

Poor little Puppy! As much as you would like to avoid a vet bill, unfortunatelly, I would recomend that he is seen by a Veterinarian. It sounds like he really hurt his leg. With him limping that is his way of telling you that he is in pain. It may not be all the time but the bottom line is that he is still limping after 2 days which means something is hurts.

Either which way you should take him in. If it is broken bone, hairline fracture, or something worse. It is not going to heal properly on his own. Especially being a growing puppy, You want to make sure you treat any injuries properly to avoid a lift time of problems for the little puppy as he gets older.

If it is just a soft tissue injury, yes they will recommend rest. But alone with that rest they will also send your puppy home with pain medication. Not only will this help your puppy with any pain he is having , it also will help aid you in keeping the puppy calm to give him time to heal.

So either way, after 2 days your puppy is still limping off and on. Sorry to tell you, but yes, He needs to be seen by his Veterinarian.

My poodle (3 years) fell off a table and was limping on his back leg. I could not find where he was hurt. The vet found it in minutes. It was his hip. He was on pain meds and leash walks for a week. He is good now. Pay for the vet.

Could be nothing serious...could be an ACL injury, but unfortunately you should see a vet. Problems that start with puppy bones can give you a lifetime of adult dog problems with their bones.
