Hi - How many of you do Rover full time?

I live in Seattle and offer Drop-in Visits on the weekends, evenings and holidays. I currently work a full-time job that I'm not happy with and would love to be able to leave, in order to do Rover full-time. Hesitant to take the plunge, wondering if anyone has been in this position and found that they are able to sustain on their Rover income alone?

I started doing Rover the beginning of March 2018, it was very slow starting out but got my first booking in 2 weeks. April was a little bit busier but still only made maybe 500 for the month. May was slow but June is going to be a good month, already set to make $700 for just half the month!

I just started doing Rover full time, only for the summer, but it's not a lucrative business for me. I only board one dog at a time. But if you board 5 dogs a day every day plus visits and day care, you may be able to make a lot.

I joined Rover 3 years ago and just started doing it full-time this year and love it! I've been getting dogs non-stop, there's never a break but it's good I can be a stay at home momma with my kids and take care of dogs, which I love!! I take one week vacation where I book it off, and sometimes I take another week with my kids but my husband stays home so he can watch the pups that are booked, but I let the clients know ahead of time the situation, they usually don't mind, they are usually my regular clients.

I never intended to do Rover full-time, but I pretty much do since I just kept getting requests. I don't take a lot of boarding requests, but do occasional daycare, walks, drop-ins and house sitting. I could work 7 days a week if I wanted, but as is I have been scaling back. In Seattle, I would say if you hustle you could make about $250-300/day. I am in the Bay Area and can make up to $400 if I play it right, but am pretty exhausted at that level. You will need to offer the full or almost full suite of services if you want to be full-time.

Can you take a week or two vacation from your job and try on going full-time with Rover? It may slightly hurt your booking scores, but you can also set your availability as though you could work 7 days a week and just see how many requests you get and then just tell folks you aren't available.

This forum isn't visited often by the sitter community but you may get a few responses! I started on Rover after I retired and I walk full time -part time M-F, I average 25 walks per week and I make a nice monthly income. Could I live on this income alone, NO. Can you do it yes, but you need to offer multiple services, specifically boarding as the most money can be made there. Best of Luck

My daughter and I have a pet sitting business and we are contractors for Rover full-time and love it. We offer all services except housesitting. We could use more business though here in Miami.
