Before she could hold it through the night but now shes been having accidents frequently and have also been eating her feces. any advice? She is 4 months old now btw, and i've also been using enzymatic cleaner to clean up her accidents but nothings working.

Poop eating is a trait often learned by a puppy from a mother dog. It is innate den behavior for a Momma dog to clean up after the puppies in the den to keep the den clean. Puppies see Momma do it, so they do it. Many dogs feel their crate is their "den" and will try to keep it clean. One way to break this behavior that my Vet told me,is to feed the dog (and all dog in the home) a tablespoon of canned pineapple with each of their meals. The pineapple reacts with gastric juices to produce a very nasty taste and can discourage this behavior. You may have to feed it every meal for a week or more to be effective. I foster dogs for rescue and use this method frequently. Good Luck!

Hi there, sorry to hear you pup had giardia, that could be tough! It sounds like she may need to be potty trained again. Sometimes, after a pup becomes ill they need to relearn where it is appropriate to go potty. Removing her immediately after she poops would be a good way to reduce the chances of her eating it. I have heard that there are some supplements dogs could take to help reduce the chances of them eating their poo however you may need to play a bit of a mitigation game.
