How do I train my dog to stop messing in his crate?
I've had my dog for nearly 6 years and he has been consistently difficult to potty train. He does have some separation anxiety, so he can't be left in the house unattended without being put in a crate. Even if he is in the crate for less than an hour, he pees and poops. I'm constantly having to clean out his crate and wash the bed pad that's in it. As well as bathing him multiple times a week to get him clean. My husband and I both work full time, so my dog is crated for 8 hours a day most days. I don't want to have to give him up, but my husband and I are both getting so frustrated at coming home every day to a house that stinks of dog poop. When one or both of us are home, it's not an issue. The dog will let us know when he needs to go out. I don't know how to train him to not "go" in his crate while we aren't home. HELP!
