How to be a better sitter?

asked 2018-05-20 23:08:02 -0500

I want to provide the best stays possible. I've heard of thank you notes, goodie bags, report cards and other awesome ideas that make clients remember their hosts, and I'm wondering if y'all could elaborate on some things you have done that have made clients feel satisfied with their choice in sitter!

  1. We establish a bond with their pets, knowing things about their pets that only someone who has spent much time with them would know.
  2. One client actually told one of us that her decision to choose us was because she knew the person who wrote one of our testimonials -- a trusted member of our community.
  3. We listen to clients's needs and concerns and adapt our services accordingly.
  4. We reinforce any training the client told us that they are working on with their dog. Then at pick-up we show the client their dog's improvement in the behavior. They loved it and told us they loved us !

Hope this helps ! All the best !

I just provide excellent care of the dog(s) in my care. I keep my clients updated daily with photos and a text. For longer stays I use the BarkCam app to create cute photos with hats, text, etc. At the M&G and again at dropoff I get as much information as I can about the dog's routine, feeding schedule, quirks, etc and then follow the client instructions. I only take one dog or family at a time and I'm retired, so they have my undivided attention most of the time.

My Guest Rover dogs never want to leave our house when the owners come pick them up :D That shows them how much they loved it here. I am home full time and we have a 1/4 acre yard, and for long term boarding, I also take dogs to the state park, for 1 hour hike.

When clients pick up their dogs, I give them a cute thank you card, a framed 8x10 photo of their dog, a cute jar with doggy treats and something little like a doggy paw magnet. Everybody LOVES the photo gifts ♥

And of course photo updates about 5-15 times a day, depending on the client. Some demand constant updates so I do whatever they want me to do.

AND : Always make sure to text them that their adorable puppy loves them and misses them . I know it does sound really silly when I type it here, but trust me, especially elderly clients are over the moon when I text them : "hi momma and daddy, i miss you. Have a good night. Love, your baby Fido".
