How to prevent dog from pooping in a certain area of the yard?

We have a pretty large backyard, and our dog lives outside full time. She has a house (that she rarely sleeps in but that's on her own accord) and protection from sun and a continuous supply for water and we bring her in when the weather gets extreme. In the past, the she used to poop in one area of the yard, a corner near the backwoods, but in the last year or so she has been pooping all over the yard. She has taken to pooping on the concrete of the pool deck, on and around the wooden steps, and near the cabana. We have tried several methods to delineate the areas that we would like her to go including, cayenne pepper and oil, cayenne pepper and vinegar, and chemical products made to deter pooping where they are spread. Nothing seems to work.

This is increasingly becoming a problem as we are using the yard a lot more often, and people are always having to watch their step and its becoming harder to enjoy the outside space. The area of the yard she is allowed to poop in is pretty sizable, so it is just the problem of getting her to poop there.

Any help or advice will be much appreciated, if not for my sake then for hers! If this problem can't be resolved soon, then a kennel might be the next step, something that we don't really want to do. I hope someone out there can help us out!

It sounds like she is pooping closer to the house. Maybe something scared her and she doesn’t want to go in the back/wooded corner anymore. Do you have coyotes where you live?

It's basically a matter of retraining her where to go. Go back to potty training basics. When you are outside (and try to be outside as often as possible to help train her), praise her and give her treats when she relieves herself in the right place and say "ah-ah" and turn away from her if she potties in the wrong place. This will be challenging if she rarely goes in the right place. In that case, your best bet would be to hang out with her in the area you want her to go a short time after you feed her to increase the likelihood you'll be there when she relieves herself and increase the chance she'll go in the right place.
Your other option is to temporarily fence off the part of the yard you want her to potty in (or that area combined with her sleep area) to increase the chance she'll go in the right place. Then, just like before, you need to catch her going in the right place and immediately and super enthusiastically praise, treat, and pet her.
Another option is putting up permanent fencing so she gets her part of the yard, and you and your guests get another part.
Also, there are "attractants" that are sold to try to lure a dog to going in certain areas. Might be worth trying if the deterrents aren't working.
Final option: Clean up the poop. shrug If you kennel her, you're gonna have to clean it up anyways.
Please don't kennel her just because she poops.
Good luck!

Sorry, no answer, but following! We have a 1/4acre yard and my dog only poops in the poop corner, but every other dog I board just pees and poops everywhere, even in front of the door on the step!

The best solution in this situation is to potty train your dog again. I'll probably suggest you assign a certain spot for him to poop so he rather finds it as the place do his business. Also, make sure you restrict him from playing around the assigned area. I found https://doggiely.com/training/train-dog-poop-in-designated-areas (a resource) for you on how you can train him to poop on a specific area of your yard.

Shame on you for keeping your dog outside all the time! Dogs should be part of the family and allowed in the house

100% agreed! That is not right. She's probably pooping elsewhere to get your attention. Some people shouldn't have dogs!
