Is it okay to give my actual phone number to the client?

Because they will be at a vacation destination with little to no internet access (for the Rover App), but have access to phone and sms.

Yes, it is okay to give them your direct number but I always find it best to still use your Rover numbers. When this becomes very helpful is if there is ever a dispute between you and the client, Rovers trust and safety team is able to see your exact communication with the owner. As long as you and the owner have your phone numbers registered through Rover (which normally we do, it is set up when we first started the system.) You are able to text the client as normal, using their Rover number (and vice versa). It will pull up as a regular text message to their phones. You can send pictures and communicate just the same.

(Just to try clarifying a little better) when you text them from your cell phone, the number that appears on their phone is your Rover number. even though you used your regular cell phone. And when they text you back using your Rover number it will automatically go to your regular cell phone text messages) And even though you are texting the client through your cell phone, as long as you are using the rover number that was provided for the client , all of your communications through texting will also appear on the rover site. This also includes pictures. So to answer your question yes you can but you can do the same with using thier rover number and it works just the same except it still goes through the Rover platform.

(sorry if it sounds confusing, it really isn't, but best way I know how to explain it.)

It’s fine but I don’t see the purpose. If your phone number is connected to rover and you get texts alerts it’s really the same thing. Also, if anything ever happens or if it’s a dispute of some sort you would always have documentation of what was said and when.

I would absolutely trade numbers. There are just too many variables involved with technology and getting in touch with people when necessary. I made the mistake one time of not exchanging numbers with an owner, and he ended up trying to pick up his dog a day early at midnight and was angry with ME for not being ready. People can be too unpredictable. I, personally, would rather have all my bases covered. Also, there have been some times when the Rover app has gone down and I’m so glad I have their cell number to let them know that their pet is doing well, or that we just completed the walk, etc. Another issue is the fact that I sometimes like to take videos of the pups playing, snuggling, doing something cute to send and the Rover app does not allow for sending video.

Of course, you may. All my clients have my cards, which give my phone number and email address, as well as my actual address. I've have never had any qualms about giving those out nor had any problems.

I always give my personal number once the M&G is booked. That way, they can call if they need directions or need to cancel last minute. I tell them they can contact me later to ask about future bookings (are you available X dates) to avoid burning a booking request.
