Local Dog Dental Clinic Recogmendation?

Hi Folks,

My local vet provided me a quote to have my dog's teeth cleaned. I care for my dogs a lot, but I also don't need to break the bank to provide them with care. My current vet wanted to charge me somewhere between $1500 and $2000 to clean and examine my dog's teeth. My question is, does anyone have a recommendation for where to have my dog's teeth cleaned?

Best, Alan

. Hi Alan, I would recommend you check with several vets in your local area as prices will vary from vet to vet, but you will find the procedure pretty expensive wherever you go

Because teeth cleaning requires the dog be put under general anesthesia, the cost is significantly more than when we humans get it done. However, that quote seems very high. As Walt suggested, you should check around. See if there is lower-cost clinic from an anti-cruelty group. Even the Banfield group (usually co-located at PetSmart) doesn't charge that much, maybe $300-$400 as I recall. If your dog requires additional work (like extractions), then you will be paying more.

Thanks Karen, you've confirmed my thoughts. When we lived on the east coast we had our dog's teeth cleaned. I remember it being expensive, but not that expensive. And I do get that extractions would add to the to cost. I'm going to reach out to Banfield to start.

BTW, I'm not advocating for Banfield. In fact, I hated the place. They kept pushing for more and more services ($$) and my dog certainly didn't like their care. We went back to our old vet.
