I have a client that wants me to spend 5 hours a day with their dog while they are away (their adult child will be there at night). How do I charge for that? Regular checkin are billed for 30 minutes.?

My client is going away for 10 days, their adult child will be home at night, but they would like me to come for 5 hours during the day and spend time with the dog and take him for 2 walks. It's not overnight but it's also much more than a regular check in.

I charge by the hour after the first 30 minutes, at a rate of $20/hour (or $5/per additional 15 minutes after the initial 30). For this situation, I would keep it as a drop-in, (daycare was mentioned above, but that is to take place at your home, so in this case that doesn't apply) and let the report card timer run for the duration of the 5 hours. It might seem like a lot, but they are booking you for several potential slots and it's not flexible on you coming/going like a house-sitting situation would be.

Since there isn't any way to charge by the hour on Rover, come up with an amount that you want to charge this client for your time and then create a "day care" rate to use for them since you don't offer it. When this job has been booked and paid, then you can take down the service offering.
