I recently joined rover.com as a pet caregiver a week ago and have not gotten any messages from potential clients? How long usually does it take for one to get their first message?

I have not gotten any messages yet. I have been changing my profile around. I am new to this and I am wondering how long does it usually take to receive their first message.

January is usually a slow month for sitting (boarding and house sitting). People are not traveling because kids are back in school, weather is terrible, people are back and work, and they spent all their money on Christmas. Plus no holidays. Advertise your services, make sure you have a top notch profile with clear, relevant photos, and ask friends and family to give you testimonials. I see you already have one, which is great. I read other sitters' profiles when I first started to get a feel for what to include and to see what the average rates were.

It took me over a month to get my first client and now I have a steady stream of regular dog walking clients. Depending on how many pet sitters are in your area there might be more competition so it can take a while to get the ball rolling. Welcome to Rover! Hope you enjoy being a pet sitter on here and with patience you should get some messages :)

Some things you should do while waiting on those first clients: Take and pass the Rover 101 quiz and get the badge, this is important. Ask a few more friends or family to write testimonials for you, again very important. Add a few more pictures to your profile, post dogs not pix of you. I would also think about changing your main pix as all i see if a messy office. Best of luck to you. Go Pats!!
