My dog limps after getting up from laying down? Help?
Hello all...My nearly 8yo terrier mix Lilly has been limping for several steps, every time she gets up from laying down. The limp/lameness in her right hind leg goes away after she walks around for a little bit. Checked her paws and there's nothing stuck. Her toenails looks fine too. She bunny hops when she runs but that's been the case since we rescued her at 2yo. This has been ongoing for about 2 weeks. No strenuous activity prior to noticing the limp. Took her to the vet 2 days ago. Vet examined her and said her kneecaps are where it should be and he did not see anything obvious. Sent me home with anti inflammatory meds and pain reliever. This is only her second day on meds...still limps after getting up from her rest. Has anyone here experienced these symptoms with your babies? If so, what was the diagnosis? I'm guessing it's arthritis for Lilly. Will probably need to bring her back for xrays after finishing off the meds and her limp doesn't improve. It pains me every time I see her limp. She doesn't seem to be in pain but I know they are master's at masking their pain. Thanks in advance for any input!
Hi there. My 6 year old Mini Schnauzer has the exact same problem as your Lilly. As per the suggestion of our breeder and longtime friend, we started giving him Recovery SA. It's only been the 2nd day so no changes yet but I've heard great things about this supplement.
my dog, same age, same problem, same leg. I am waiting for vet to call back. She walks (and runs) fine after she walks around for a bit after a nap. Probably arthritis
Hi,my border collie will be 9 in March. He just started limping after he's lying down for awhile. It's his right hind leg. He'll hop around a bit & then be fine. He & my pit bull/boxer mix will run around the yard together just fine. He doesn't seem to have a problem then. Haven't been to vet yet.
