How do I know if my dog has tapeworms?

Tapeworms segments look like grains of rice. If you see small objects that look like rice in your dog's feces, near your dog's anus or in places where your dog sleeps, your dog probably has tapeworms. Most dogs get tapeworms by ingesting an infected flea. If your dog has or recently had fleas, you'll want to check for tapeworms. Also, if you see tapeworm segments, you'll want to check your dog for fleas.
