Is the background check still optional?

I am in the process of signing up and saw a similar question on here where you said it was optional. I just don't feel comfortable giving my social security number. Can I still choose not to do it? The site will not allow me to bypass it.

No, a background check is now required of all sitters, walkers, etc. That changed when Rover took over DogVacay.
