How to get my dog to poop in the back yard?

To answer your question, dogs are creatures of habits, even when it comes to eliminating. Perhaps your dog never poop in a yard but always did on a leash. I know I had a dog who only poo off leash and if I wasnt looking at her because she was raised in our home which had a huge yard and was potty trained in that yard.

You want her to understand that where you would like her to do her business and make so that doing her business in your yard really pays off so I would put your dog on a leash and walk her around your yard for as long as it takes for her to poop, it will help if you do this about 20-30 minutes after she eats and first thing in the morning when you know she will have to poop. When she does poop, do like you would with a pup and give her a poo party, lots of praises and some tasty rewards. Then repeat, repeat, repeat. Only take her on walks outside your yard once she has poop in the yard.
